I got my replacement flywheel today, and it has several spots of rust on it. My thought is that I probably shouldn't use it. What does Oppo think?
I guess I'll hit the phone first thing in the morning and see if Napa or Autozone can get me a flywheel by Saturday.
*sigh*
EDIT: Wow, 100% of commentors think it's fine to use! Thanks Oppo!

It's only on the surface.

It's a contact surface, that rust'll disappear instantly when you disengage/engage it for the first time. Sorta like rusty brake rotors a few hours after washing the car and letting it sit.

Raw metal rusts. It's like a brake disc, it rusts before you finish tightening the lugs. If you really wanted to, I guess you could clean it up before install, but that's really nothing.

A scotch brite pad will fix that right up!

ignore it, its fine, just a minor spot of surface rust, it will be gone in a couple engagements & disengagements of the clutch.

You should see the flywheel in my truck, the entire thing is rusted worse than that except for where the clutch touches it, that area is clean.

a rub with light oil like WD40 on a rag will clean it right off. Just use some solvent and a clean rag to get the WD40 off.

I have a feeling that your perceptions would be different if pulling apart 20 year old autos subjected to a 20 year sub-tropic environment. That what you have there is brand spanking factory fresh new.
(I'm jaded. Neverminds.)

And it's in the friction area. First time you slip the clutch it'll be gone.
Don't worry about it.

No worries. Like everyone else said it will wear right off the first time the clutch is engaged. They can't put any rust preventative on these for storage or shipping so you will get surface rust. If you think about it you wouldn't really want your flywheel to show up coated in grease or oil would you?
